Foster Family Support Team (FAM)

The Foster Family Support Team—affectionately known as “FAM” to those involved—addresses the unique challenges of fostering by giving foster families an extra level of support and love. Each foster family will be connected with a team of 4 to 8 volunteers dedicated to providing support with things like childcare, transportation, meals, general home support, homework help, mentoring, etc.

A team leader will contact the foster family weekly to coordinate needs and also to discuss prayer requests that are shared with the rest of the team.

Each team member commits to help at least once a month for a year. In preparation to serve on a Foster Care Support team, volunteers are required to attend a 90-minute orientation that explains how the team works and reviews important information that volunteers need to know about foster care and working with children in the system.

Note: Only childcare and transportation helpers are required to be background screened by 4KIDS.
